Auto Insurance Claims: Need repairs, total, loss

Question
I was hit while parked and the responsible party's insurance will total the car evan tho it is repairable. Do I now sue the person who hit me to get the cost of the repairs?

Answer
You can sue them if their insurer does not give you the settlement you want. But that does not mean you will win. If you want the car repaired instead of totaled, it is too involved to explain the game on line.
