Auto Insurance Claims: hit parked car while test driving, test drive 3, strong arm

Question
Hello,I knocked the mirror off of a parked car while on a test drive. 3/4 of my view was obstructed due to the ads written on the windshield. After the incident the salesman called his manager and was told that he has insurance to take care of everything. After returning to the dealership the managers tone changed.I asked him for a written estimate but he said that it should cost about $750.00, up from his first $500.00 estimate. This guy is trying to strong arm me into just giving him the money. What should I do?

Answer
Hi Demetrius,

You should politely tell the sales manager that you are willing to pay for the damage but you will require a written estimate from a qualified shop showing the part cost, labor cost and any paint cost (if required). You should obtain a photo of the damage. The you can take the photo and the estimate to another shop if you want to verify that the charges seem to be reasonable. If so, then pay the dealership.

I hope this helps
