Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Collision, legal compensation, collision coverage

Question
My husband was in a car accident where the 17 year old driver of the other car was sited by police for failure to stop at a stop sign, and no proof of insurance.  This took place on a Friday evening.  I showed up to take him to the hospital to be checked out.  His only ailments were a burnt wrist from airbag deployment, and a very sore knee.  The next day after the accident occurred, we were supposed to be moving our furniture, because we are moving out of our apartment, and have to be out in the next 2 weeks.  Now we had no truck to move with, and he was sore, and not physically able to help.  Our insurance company could not get ahold of the girl who hit him, and we were left to wait, without a vehicle.  This is causing us both distress! We are trying to move without a truck now, and he has been left without a vehicle to get to both work and college.  Is there any legal compensation for this?  WE really have been emotionally stranded, and do not know our rights. Please help.

Answer
Hi Katie,

Unfortunately there is no compensation for inconvenience. You can go and rent a truck and then once the insurance companyh is contact they will have to reimburse you. You should get your vehicle to a body shop so they can assess the damage. Or, if you have collision coverage on your policy you can make the claim to your insurance who will then seek reimbursement from the at-fault persons insurance.

I hope this helps
