Auto Insurance Claims: not my fault, insurance company, car accident

Question
I was involved in a car accident not too long ago. some one hit me from
behind and they admited culpability. also there was a cop there and took
down a report stating that the man who hit me did hit me and it was his
fault. when I got home I realized I had no insurance (expired). so, my
question is when I call his insurance and make the claim. do I have to give
them my insurance information as well? or how does this work. I do not want
to get in trouble due to this, but at the same time I would really like my car
fixed.

Answer
Hi Raf,

The fact that you may not have had insurance is irrelevant. The other driver was at fault and his insurance company has to pay for your repairs. Just call them and file the claim. All will be ok.

Be sure to go ahead and get insurance. If the situation had been different and you were at fault, you would be paying for the repairs to the oter car out of your pocket.

I hope this helps
