Auto Insurance Claims: 3rd Party Compensation, repair estimate, friend move

Question
A couple of months ago, I was helping a friend move and she scratched my car with a dresser.  The damage was solely her fault, and, after seven weeks of waiting, she finally paid the full estimate amount.  However, she wrote the check out to me instead of the body shop as I had instructed her to do.  Now she wants a receipt from the body shop showing that I spent the money to repair the damages to my car and did not pocket it instead.  I would like to know, do I legally have to show her proof of how the money was spend or is it none of her business since it is my compensation for the damages?  If it makes any difference, the incident occurred in Pennsylvania.

Answer
Hi Ashley,

If you provided your friend with a repair estimate from a body shop and thet is what she based her payment to on, then that is all you need to provide. It is good she mad the check out to you. Although she owes you the comey for the cost to repair your car, you are under no obligation to actually have it repaired. Just give your friend a copy of the body shop repair estiamte and that should be the end of it.

I hope this helps
