Auto Insurance Claims: No fee storage location, state insurance commissioners, claims supervisor

Question
I was involved in a side door accident where the other driver was at fault.  The claim is taking a long time to resolve.  I was encouraged by the insurance company to select a repair shop which I did however the repair shop is having trouble getting the supplemental appraisal from the claims office.  I am told that I am responsible for the storage fee at the repair shop in the event the shop and insurance company do not agree on the repair price.  My storage bill at this point is over $2000, can I move my car to a no fee storage location without giving the insurance company excuses to delay or deny he claim?

Answer
Hi Al,

There should be no storage fees if the body shop actually repairs your vehicle. You need to get on this insurance company and get them moving. Call the claims supervisor and complain about the lack of action. You must be pro-active by calling them every day or even several times a day if needed. If that doesn't work contact your state insurance commissioners office and file a formal complaint against the insurance company. If all else fails you will need to put the claim through your own insurance company and let them deal with reimbursement from the other company.

I hope this helps
