Auto Insurance Claims: my car title, tag number, auto care

Question
My husband was stopped tonight for no reason. It was "routine", but that's not the problem. When the police offier ran the tag number, it came back as being owned by the insurance company. He has the title and showed it to her, but the took the vehicle anyway. What do we do and how do we find out who really owns it. It's not a new vehicle , it's a 1993. We bought it from a auto care place where the man said he was selling it for a friend.

Answer
Hi Prefer not to say,

You will need to purchase a CARFAX history report to see the title history of the vehicle. Also you will need to contact the person who sold you the vehicle to see if they have any information on the vehicle. Then you will need to contact the insurance company that they said owned the vehicle. This willlikely take some time to unravel. You may need to file a lawsuit against the seller of the car if this cant be undone.

I hope this helps
