Auto Insurance Claims: parking lot accident, parking lot accident, cash settlement

Question
hello,
I was driving my friend's car (it is insured but I am not covered) the other day and accidentally scratched the back bumper of another car as I was turning out of my parking space.  The driver agreed not to contact the police but took my friend's insurance information down.  The driver promised not to call my friend's insurance company.  I have agreed to pay for all damages, which the driver has given me a quote for but has asked for in cash.  What can I do to protect my friend in case the driver is lying and goes to call my friend's insurance company to file a claim?

Thanks.

Answer
You will need to have your friend file a claim with his insurance company.  If he gave you permission to drive the vehicle, then it should be covered.  You are obviously dealing with a claiment who is up to no good and your friend needs his insurance company to protect his best interest.
I'd never agree to a cash settlement.
