Auto Insurance Claims: auto collision, Can they deny me?

Question
It was February with ice on the road. My daughter was coming home from work. She was driving a safe speed, but still lost control on the ice. She sled about 75 feet before rearending a parked car. She said the hit was light and no damage was done. She started to get out of the truck,to find the owner of the car she had rearended, when she was rearended by another car. The lady driving that car didnt even slow down,or was driving way to fast for the conditions. Her car went under the back of our truck picking it up and slamming the truck into the first car causing it to move 6 to 8 ft. from were it was parked. No one was hurt, luckly. The police report says that no one was at fault due to the conditions. Our insurance company agreed to pay half of the repairs to the 1st car and the lady that rearended my daughter, her insurance would have to pay the remaining cost. As for our truck they only want to pay for the back bumper and nothing for the front of the truck which is were most of the damage is. They never even ask us to get an estimint. Can they do that. Thanks for your reply.

Answer
Tim,

I'll make it short.  Yes, the insurance company can deny to pay for the front damages without even getting an estimate.

Now, the owner of your daughter's vehicle can sue the other person for all of your damages and if a jury believes your daughter that the first collision didn't cause any damage, then you will likely get paid for all of your damages from the other person's insurance company that originally denied the claim.

Basically, the insurance company is saying "prove it" to you guys.  If you are not willing to prove your case by fighting in court, the insurance company can do whatever they like.  I'm sorry the answer isn't a quick fix, but the answer is honest and accurate.
