Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 90 Silverado R12to134a conversion, evaporator, condenser

Question
What all should be replaced in converting this system? When replacing parts should I have them look up parts from a model year that already uses 134a? I was thinking of flushing the evaporator and condenser. Replacing the pump, orifice tube and lines.

Answer
HI Richard

Your good with what you are doing the new compressor come with the seals and oil for 134a.  Remember the oil come separate you must add oil.  Flushing is not recommended you may leave some of the fluid in the system and cause more damage.  It is safe to leave the old oil in the evap and condenser.  Do flush the lines that is safe.  Make sure you add only 80% of the refrigerant when recharging.  Let me know and I'll help.
