Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: CEL for a/c leak, acura integra gsr, acura integra

Question
QUESTION: My boyfriend has a 2001 Acura Integra GSR, in which the CEL light is on because of an a/c leak. My only concern is this: The car's air conditioning has been removed, hence my confusion. Could it be capped off improperly, or is the answer more complex than that?

ANSWER: Hi Alix

Not sure what you mean by CEL light.  If the Ac has been removed then you may not have a problem.  Just tell me were that light is and maybe I can figure out what Is going on.

QUESTION: CEL=Check Engine Light

Answer
When your check engine light comes on.  What it is saying is that your emissions are not to standard.  In other words the gases coming out of the tail pipe are not correct.  You need to check with a mechanic.  They need to put a scanner on the vehicle and see what sensor in not running properly.  It definitely has nothing to do with the  AC system.

Again I tell you, you are incorrect.  You should go to a mechanic and ask want the CEL light is for and the only thing it tells you.  You can Call the EPA and you will get the same answer that I am giving you.  The Check Engine Light is an EPA regulatory instrument to maintain the vehicles Emissions within government standards.  It has nothing to do with anything like your AC system.  It only makes you aware that you need to have it checked out.  If your car overheats your CEL will not turn ON until your emission standards are compromised.  Have your car checked out and you will probably be told that your O 2 sensor is bad or your Map sensor is bad etc.  The CHECK ENGINE LIGHT has nothing to do with the AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.
