Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 01 jeep wrangler AC cycling on & off, radiator fan motor, jeep wrangler sport

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 manual jeep wrangler sport. My AC went completely out while I was driving and my mechanic found a leak and replaced the compressor.  It worked great for a couple of weeks and then the air started cycling on & off while I was driving. My mechanic replaced the blower and the next day it started cycling on and off again. It doesn't matter what the temperature is set to or what setting the fan is on or even whether I am driving or just idling at a light. The air is on, it gets really quiet and I can't feel anything and then I can hear it kick back on a few seconds to a few minutes later. What could be causing this? thanks!

ANSWER: HI Elle

Need to know what is cycling the compressor or the blower.   Where is it quiet inside or outside.  Let me know I'll try and help.

QUESTION: I don't know what is causing it to cycle. My mechanic didn't seem to know either. When I am inside the jeep, I can hear the air stop blowing and then I hear the sound of the air coming back on. The noise sounds like a fan to me. I have not been able to check under the hood when this has happened plus I don't really know what to look for.

Answer
Hi Elle

I think you may be speaking about the radiator fan motor.  They are very loud when they turn on.  This may be normal it works with the pressure at your condenser.  This could be the cause of your compressor seals blowing.  They have two speeds low turn on anytime your compressor turns on.  The higher speed turns on when your system is overcharge or over heating.  Have the fan checked out by a mechanic to be running normal.  Good Luck and let me know
