Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Ac compressor freezes up, electrical harness, ac compressor

Question
Yes I have a 2006 ford expedtion limited with ac seats and rear ac. Here's the problem after about 45 minutes of driving the ac will still blow cool but not very hard out of the vents. You can here it blowing loud but just not out og the vents? It has been in the shop 3 proir times first time they said it was low on freon and filled it up,second time they found a leaking sill replaced and filled it up, works fine around town for around 20 or so minutes problem came back. Third time they said the manifold tube assembly had a small crack which they found with dye leaking out, replaced it refilled and sent us on our way. Well one day later same problem works fine at first then stops blowing hard and compressor freezes? Any info? Thanks alot:) we have alredy spent $700 and still have the same problem.

Answer
Hi Nathan

You have a cycling switch located at the accumulator near the fire wall.  You can't really see it unless you move the electrical harness just above the accumulator.  Pull the cable that is attached to the switch and the compressor should disconnect.  If it does not then your switch may have been jumped.  If the compressor disconnects then change the switch. If it does not check wires for jump. Then reconnect and see if compressor engages.  If it does then you should be good but I would change it anyway. Its too difficult to pull out not to change it if you are already there.  good luck let me know
