Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2005 Chrysler Town & Country, chrysler town, rattle hum

I'm getting a low pulsing rattle/hum noise from my 2005 3.8L Town &
Country van (50k miles) when I turn on the air conditioning switch at idle
speed.  The AC seems to work fine.  The sound seems to diminish to nothing
when the engine RPMs are above idle.  The sound stops when I turn off the
AC switch off.

What is causing the sound and should I be getting some service on this
vehicle?  Thanks.

If you turn it on and the noise starts then I think it may be coming from inside  the compressor bearings.  It may also be that you fans are turning on properly.  I suggest you turn it off and have it checked out.  Maybe it is not to late for the compressor
