Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Auto Air con Receiver, wire connections, pressure switch

Question
I have an 1985 Toyota RJ70(Bundera), On the a/c system the receiver has two
male wire connections on it. What are these for? There is a wire connected to
them, but they go no where, the wire is joined together.

Answer
Burton,
The wires going into the receiver should be for your high pressure switch. This is the switch that would turn on the electric condensor fan (if you have it) or shut down the compressor if your high side pressure gets too high. This is a safety device that is in place to prevent your high side from building too high (if there was another fault in the system) and blowing your lines/seals/Relief devices.
In actuality, your compressor should not be coming on with these disconnected, unless you are saying that they are spliced together where they connect to the harness. In that case, then someone has bypassed your high pressure switch completely, and I would highly highly recommend you have it set back up properly. If you need assistance or a wiring diagram of your a/c system let me know, and I will see what I can do to round one up.
I hope I was able to provide the assistance you needed. If so please remember to rate this answer. If I can do anything further now or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for the question and good luck in everything.
