Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1995 Buick Lesabre AC, continuity check, compressor clutch

Question
My AC clutch recently froze up and got so hot it melted the clutch plug.  I replaced the AC Compressor, clutch, and clutch power pigtail.  I do not have power to the clutch.  Also at this time my cruise cocntrol stopped working.  I do not know if they are related or not.  I have checked all fuses inside the car and under the hoof.  All are good but I suspect the AC relay may be bad.  I do not know which relay in the relay panel under the hood controls the AC.  All cab controls work, lights come on, blower works, and I can hear the system vent doors open and cclosing when the system configuration is changed on the control panel.  Any ideas where I may be losing power?

Answer
Mikel,
I looked at the wiring diagram for a 95 lesabre custom with the manual a/c system. From reading it, the only thing that would cause both your cruise control and a/c compressor not to function is your 15amp cruise control fuse located in your relay box. I know you said that you checked all of your fuses and said they were good. Do me a favor and re-verify this one. Use a multimeter if you have one to do a continuity check across the fuse itself. Sometimes they appear to be good, but are actually blown near where the solder points are.
According to your wiring diagram, your cruise control fuse supplies both, the power to energize your compressor clutch relay coil, as well as supplies the power going through the contacts once it does energize.
If you check the fuse again and it checks out, disconnect your clutch relay and check the socket that would have pins 30 and 86 from the relay inserted into them. (You can find out which pins these are by looking either on the side or the bottom of the relay itself.) You should read 12V on each. If you do... replace that relay, the coil has burnt out in it. If you do not and your fuse checked good... check the fuse sockets (have to take the fuse out) one of them should have 12V. If it doesn't then it is a fault somewhere in your ignition circuitry. If you get 12V at the fuse and none at the pins on the relay, then the pink wire (wire#639)coming out of your fuse block has a break in it.
As for which one in your relay box is your A/C relay... you would have to look on the cover or in your owners manual for that info.
Thank you for your question, I hope I was able to be of some assistance, if so please remember to rate this answer. If I can be of any help now or in the future, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again and good luck in everything.
