Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1999 Honda CRV AC Compressor Mishap, honda crv, compressor installation

Question
Johnny,
I am replacing a compressor, drier, and expansion valve because of compressor self-destruction, which I really don't understand as the system did not lose charge, and is a closed system.  I plan to flush the complete system including hoses, condenser, evaporator with a flush agent and compressed air, evacuate the system and recharge.  The repair procedure advises a complete flush but also states that PAG oil should be added back for the components replaced.  Since a complete system flush is required, don't I need to add the total system quantity of PAG oil? Also, total system quantity is not provided, so should I total the component quantities or should some extra be included for hoses?  Do I add or portion the oil to each component during assembly?  Evacuation only removes moisture and air, not oil, correct?
Thanks!
Will

Answer
Hey Will,

You said that you are replacing the compressor, and when you replace the compressor you have to add oil unless otherwise stated. The system quantity should be stated on the compressor installation instructions and if you cannot find it there then try autozone I think they offer alldata and that gives specs. for all vehicles. I don't advise adding extra for the hoses because the oil is mostly for the compressor and it is an exact amount.  But be sure you find out the correct amount to add, too much or too little will mess up your compressor again.
