Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: a/c, r 134a, chevy blazer

Question
I have a 98 chevy blazer v6 (4.3 liter) what are the low and high side pressures I need to pull when evacuating the a/c system and also to refill with refrigerant.. could you please give me the complete proceedure to evac system and refill.. thank you

Answer
Stephen,

I'm a little unclear as to what you are requesting. Pressures to pull? There's static system pressure, and running system pressure when fully charged. After recovery, it's necessary to pull a vacuum on the system to remove moisture (AFTER a part replacement). The length of time for that varies as to how long the system was left open.

As to the process, proper refrigerant recovery should be done by certified personnel, with a certified refrigerant recovery machine. For service procedures, a subscription to alldatadiy.com, or a factory service manual, will give you what you need to know, but unless you have access to this equipment, I'd suggest visiting a shop - this job is, depending on the cost of R-134a, normally around a hundred bucks. Good luck!
