Question -
I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban.  I changed the battery in this vehicle today.  Following installation of the new battery, the air blows only through the defrost vents despite what vent is pointed to with the control.  When starting the truck, the air will blow initially through the regular vents but only lasts for a few seconds and then reverts back to the defrost vents.  Any idea what would have caused this and is there a way to reset the system following a battery installation?

HI KURT, I`VE HEARD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. IT`S POSSIBLE THAT THE BLOWER CONTROL MODULE GOT POPPED WHEN YOU INSTALLED THE BATTERY TERMINALS. IF YOU GOT THE DIGITAL DISPLAY CONTROLS THIS MAY HAVE HAPPENED. MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE THE MODULE..LET ME KNOW YOU RESULTS

GOOD LUCK

David:  I took my truck to a chevrolet dealership today.  They replaced the whole control module in the dash as they told me that there is no option to replace a part of that assembly.  Once installed, they found that the problem had not gone away.  My truck remains there and now I'm worried they are trying to stick me with the bill for their first try.  After I had to argue with them about providing me transportation home, I found out they still do not know what is causing the problem.  This is turning into a complicated matter just because my battery had to be replaced.  Just my luck.  :-)

KURT, HAVE THE DEALER CHECK THE HVAC HARNESS FOR CUTS AGAINST SHARP METAL IN THE DASH. THERE IS A TSB ABOUT THE HARNESS. SECONDLY, THEY NEED TO HOOK -UP THE SCAN TOOL TO CLEAR ALL DTC READINGS. THE MODULE HAS TO RE-CALIBRATE THE DOORS POSITIONS. THE INSTUCTION WHEN REPLACING THE MODULE IS NOT TO MOVE ANY OF THE SELECTIONS UNTIL IT IS DONE CALIBRATING. IF NOT , IT SCREWS IT UP. WRITE BACK SOON.I CALLED A TECH FRIEND OF MINE THAT WORKS FOR CHEVY.

GOOD LUCK
