Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C Clutch, nissan sentra, click sound

Question
My 1997 Nissan Sentra's A/C no longer produces the click sound normally heard when you press the A/C switch. Although the belt is turning the compressor, the inside pully (I don't know the name) is not turning. All fuses are ok and the relay tested ok. Is this something I can repair myself or do I need a new compressor?
Thanks,
Jim

Answer
HELLO JIM,IF YOU DECIDE TO CHECK THE A/C,THE FIRST YOU NEED TO DO IS CHECK FOR FREON PSI.YOU WILL NEED A SET OF SERVICE GAUGES TO DO THAT. YOU MAY BE OUT OF FREON AND THAT`S THE FIRST THING CHECKED. I RECOMMEND A PRIVATE A/C SHOP TO CHECK IT FURTHER. YOU`LL PROBABLY SPEND ABOUT $80 FOR A PERFORMANCE TEST.

GOOD LUCK,DAVIDT
