Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Air conditioner problems, radiator fan motor, oldsmobile cutlass supreme

Question
I have a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and the air conditioner won't work.  I checked the fuses and noticed the air conditioner one was blown.  I replaced the fuse and then tried the air conditioner.  It started to blow out cold air until the fan and compressor kicked in; it then blew the fuse again.  I have check the pressure on the coolant and it is good.  What could be causing the fuse to blow?

Answer
Hello Brad, sounds like there is a short in the compressor clutch.Disconnect the harness to the compressor and install a new fuse.Be sure the dash blower is working too.check if the fuse blows,if not, looks to be compressor.GM radiator fan motor have been none to short-out also. Check that they are functioning properly.Let the cat temp rise and see if the fans come on.Simple check.

good luck,davidt
