Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Tahoe air conditioning, chevrolet tahoe, 2003 chevrolet tahoe

Question
I have a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe with dual air. Lately, it is cool sometimes, sometimes it is not. It started not getting cool when it was idiling. Tonight it just went out. I put coolant in it the other day. The compressor is kicking on and off, it sounds okay. Is it my recycling switch gone bad? What is the problem here?

Answer
Hello Warren, Sounds like your very low on R134 gas.   You need a/c gauges to read the a/c psi. The LOW-side should to reading about 30psi and the HIGH-side should be between 180
to 210psi- this is at full charge. The full charge on the
Chevy is 3.75lbs of R134. That`s why the compressor is cycling on and off. Your system takes more because it`s a dual system. I recommend getting it checked for leaks before. A charge may only last a short while. Chevys have weak compressors and evaporators and leak often from those areas.

Good luck, Davidt
