Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Auto air conditioning not working, auto air conditioning, magnetic clutch

Question
I have a 1992 Ford Taurus. The AC works when first
starting up but starts blowing warm air after 5 to
10 min. If I leave it running, after awhile it will blow cool again. I took it to Midas for a checkup and they installed a conversion kit to use the new coolant. They then said it was working
o.k. On the way home, it started blowing warm again. I returned to Midas and they said if they
tapped on the compressor that it would start up
and I needed a new compressor. Cost $1,000 Help!

Answer
That makes NO SENSE what-so-ever. One of the sensors on the compressor or the MAGNETIC CLUTCH on the front of the compressor has a faulty connection.

They should be more specific and check out what it is that is causing your problem.

A NEW COMPRESSOR is NOT warranted in this issue. they just want to sell you an expensive compressor instead of fixing the one you have.
