I have a 1999 acura integra ls. The condensor has a leak because of a crack. What parts would need to be replaced in the air conditioning system. What parts would be damaged and what parts would not be damaged? Is it difficult to fix this problem?
Answer -
Simply replace the condensorand add one ounce of refrigerant oil in the condensor, evacuate the a/c system of all air and recharge it.

The expansion valve, evaporator, and drier do not have to be replaced? The guy at the shop told me that it would cause other parts to be damaged and would need them to replaced.
Answer -
If the system has been TOTALLY empty of freon for more than several days I would suggest you replace the drier.

I see no need for the expansion valve and especially NO NEED for the EVAPORATOR to be replaced. Personally I believe they are trying to take advantage of a HUGE repair bill for a MINOR repair bill.
Answer -
Since it has been open for over a year, Moisture and debris is strewn throughout your entire A/C system and YES, all these components should be replaced in order to get a proper repair.

Any A/C hoses that are worn or cracked.

the system has to be evacuated of all atmospheric air via a vacuum pump.

the system needs to be checked for any LEAKS before being recharged.

This COMPLEX repair is going to need to be performed by a facility who has all the special equipment and expertise to perform a proper repair.
