Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C works for a while then quits, chrysler new yorker, c components

Question
I have a 89 Chrysler New Yorker 3.0liter with 80k. It was a Florida car until a year ago when I bought it. I'm not sure if it still has the r12 in it or not. There is no markings telling me otherwise. I've put in some r134a to recharge it after last winter (I live in Northern New york). When I first turn the a/c on and the engine is cool, it works fine for about 15 minutes. After about 10 minutes, the compressor cuts in and out then all of a sudden, the belt starts squelling and the compressor is slowly turning over. It acts like a blockage has occured. What do you think? Plus, if I need to "clean it out" to get rid of the r12, if thats still in it, how would I go about doing that?

Answer
R-12 and R-134 are NOT compatable. Combined they turn the freona nd refrigerant into a jelly like susbstance that destroys vital A/C components.

Your ONLY salvation is to have a reputable A/C facility make the necessary repairs and expect to pay up to $1200.00 or MORE to fix it.
