QUESTION: I have attached an image of my problem. Is this something that could be easily repaired by myself? thanks

ANSWER: Hi Jackie!....Yes, I think you should be able to tackle this repair yourself. All you will need to do, is pick up a tube of touch-up paint from your local Auto parts retail store or Dealership, a sheet of 1500-2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper, and a small amount of rubbing compound and finishing compound. In regards to the 2 compounds, some outlets will have small sample packs, so you hopefully shouldn't have to purchase a full bottle of each.

Fill the affected area with multiple light coats of paint, and let them dry thoroughly between coats. Try and build up the paint to just above the existing area. Once completely dry, soak the sandpaper in water for a few minutes to soften it up, then gently lightly hand sand the area, checking it often, as to not sand right through. Once satisfied, take a soft rag, (a terry cloth washcloth will work well), and apply the rubbing compound in a back and forth motion. Follow up with the finishing compound in the same manner, using a new piece of cloth.

Hope this helps you out.....Thanks for your question....Dave.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick reply Dave. I've been researching and there are "kits" available. Is there a brand that you recommend?

Answer
Hi again Jackie....I would recommend the "Dupli-Color" brand. I have actually used their products before, and have had good results, as they seem to have a quality product as well as a very close color match.....Best of luck with your project.....Thanks....Dave.
