Auto body repair & detailing: 2013 Nissan Rogue Repair, aftermarket autobody parts, body side moulding

Question
I would like to replace the left rear door moulding on this vehicle. My qusetion is, do I have to remove the inside door panel for this repair.

Answer
Hi Steve!....The majority of vehicles in production today, do not use clips to install body side mouldings, as they simply just use a two sided 3M tape. But there are exceptions to the rule. That being said, I would just try and peel off the moulding slowly. If you do come across a clip in the process, a lot of times you can simply release the clip using a small/tiny flat blade screwdriver. If this turns out to be difficult, then I would suggest removing the door panel to gain access to the backside of the clip. Please note, that not all clips will always be accessible from the backside either, as there will be an intrusion bar installed in the door shell, and depending on the design of the door shell, access to some clips might be limited. In the case of no access to the backside of the clip, and if you can't release it from the outside, you pretty much have no choice but to break the clip. Not to worry though, as body side moulding clips are widely available from the Dealer, or from an Aftermarket Autobody/Parts supplier....Hope I have helped you out. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to write me back....Thanks....Dave
