Motorcycle Repair: 2004 xl883, triple trees, happy thanksgiving

Question
i'm wondering how to go about putting a different fork on my bike.i like the look of a larger tire, like my back tire. is this possible and how much money do you think i'd have in this change?                              thanks, paul ps,my bike is all stock.

Answer
You really didnt say what fork or tire you want to install, so heres a general answer.
The size of the forks depend on the size of the triple trees. If you have 38mm trees then you have to use 38mm forks. You can purchace complete fork sets, which includes the triple trees,  that will fit your bike.
On the rear tire, same thing. Not knowing what size tire you want here is a general answer. In order to install a wider tire you have to look at what will fit in the swinging arm that you have. You can go around one size bigger, but you might have to go to a chain drive. there are kits out there that include a new swinging arm so you can go wider than that.
Happy Thanksgiving
