Auto body repair & detailing: best car color to lessen sun damage, garage carport, paint damage

Question
I am going to buy a new car and it will sit out in the sun (I don't have a garage/carport). Is it true that lighter colors, such as white, reflect more light, therefore less damaging UV rays penetrate the paint on a car?? I was going to get black, but not if the sun damage will be noticeably worse than white. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Lee
There are no conclusive studies on this topic , but what we do know is that lighter colors absorb less heat than darker colors.
With today's technology in 'clear coats' you should not have a problem with sun damage.
Please check with the car dealers manufacture warranty against such issues as paint damage due to sun penetration in your geographical area.
Thank you for the question
