Auto body repair & detailing: trunklid hits recond bumpercover mystery, plastic retainers, rear lamp

Question
I had bumper cover on my 2004 camry which was dented in a parking lot (a corner hit, only damage was to this cover) replaced with a reconditioned cover ~2 yrs ago. I recently discovered that the trunklid is apparently hitting the cover when I close it, and has worn the paint down to the rubber or metal.  It is a small area on each side (~3/4" line)next to the lower corner of the rear lamp assembly.  The contact between parts appears to occur only when closing the lid as there is ~1/8-1/4" between the parts when closed.  I cannot see what is wrong; the trunklid looks exactly in line with the fenders.  Do you have any ideas? Have you seen/heard of this?

Do locks move (sure doesn't look like it)?. Do reconditioned bumpers ever come in slightly warped compared to OEM (I can't see anything, except the rubber bumper doesn't quite come flush with the metal right where the contact points are).  Could something have not been put together quite right; if so what?

Answer
A RECONDITIONED COVER IS ONE THAT IS AN OEM PART...REPAIRED AND SENT OUT FOR RESALE AS A RECONDITIONED PART.

AN AFTERMARKET COVER IS ONE THAT IS PRODUCED BY A COMPANY OTHER THAN TOYOTA AND IS SUPPOSED TO FIT.

BUMPERS DO NOT HAVE ADJUSTMENTS AS THEY TYPICALLY SLIDE OVER BRACES AND THEN ARE HELD IN PLACE
BY PLASTIC RETAINERS AND A FEW BOLTS.

SOUND LIKE YOU MAY NEED AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE LID STRIKER TO PULL THE LID CLOSER IN WHEN LATCHING.

TAKE IT BACK TO THE BODY SHOP WHERE YOU HAD IT REPAIRED AS THEY MAY GUARANTEE THE PRIOR WORK.
