Auto body repair & detailing: repair time, bikk, audi a6

Question
I rear-ended a bus with my 1996 Audi A6 in December. My insurance totaled it, but my body shop decided to take it on and claimed no problem with it. I had it towed there in the mid of January. It is now toward the end of June. The car is still there. He claims that the parts took a long time to get there, and it was difficult to get after market parts for the car, blah bullcrap blah. He just had to replace the radiator, headlights, front grill, hood, r/l front 1/4 panels, and the transmission line. I have taken my car to this guy three times with no problem and I know him personally through friends. I have been more than patient. I don't really want to get my car and money from him, cause I am afraid nobody else will do it or the same thing may start again. What do you suggest? Does he really have a reason to take this long? Should I sue him and what could I get for suing him  anyway? I didn't want it to come to suing, but I want my car back.

Answer
Sarah, take your mutual friend along, and go and demand that they get the car done. He was doing you a favor at first, now it's become a chore for both of you. If you still owe him money, tell him you aren't going to pay the balance untill it's done- if you already paid the bikk in full, you made a foolish error. You just need to keep on him, or tell him to give you a bill for parts and work already completed, and take it elsewhere. That should light a fire under his butt. Bill
