Auto body repair & detailing: Is the body shop liable?, temperature gauge, insurance adjuster

Question
My 2005 Camry had severe front end damage (less than $2000 away from being totaled), so I took it to a local body shop I've used before.  It appeared good as new when I picked it up a month later, but after driving around for 1 week the check engine light came on, and within 45 minutes the car died (the temperature gauge never indicated it was overheating).  Per the body shop, a hose came loose which allowed fluid to drain from the engine, thus causing it to "burn up".  I now need a new engine, and while the body shop said they'd work with me on the financial aspect, my husband maintains we shouldn't have to pay "a dime" since the body shop was at fault.  Are there rules/laws when it comes to this type of problem?

Answer
The shop should be liable, you may have to hire an attorney. Call your insurance adjuster and let them know what happened. They may help you, they should at least pressure the shop into paying for a new motor and a rental car.
Find out why the light did not come on, the shop- will use that against you, saying you should have stopped when it came on, they may not have hooked it up right.
Good luck
