Auto body repair & detailing: Replacing car door, nissan altima, door hinge

Question
Mike,

I had previously asked a question about replacing the front driver's side door for 2001 Nissan Altima GXE. Today, I finally got the time to do it and it went very well except for one thing. At the time when we bolted the hinges to the car body frame, we made sure that the door aligned correctly. It did, and my friend the door hold it while tightened it with hand (no power tool). I made sure it was as tight as it could be. The next thing is after a few opening and closing, the door now has a slight tilt. So whenever I open the door, it pulls down a little bit giving a little awkward feeling .. probably quarter of an inch.

I realized that the original door hinge was stuck to the body with some kind of glue/caulk ... was I supposed to use something so that the hinge would stick to the body? How can I resolve this problem?

Answer
The factory uses a sealer sometimes, around the hinge area, not important. You may have to remove the fender to get to the hinge bolts for proper alignment. You can also go to a body shop and ask for a quick align with a door bar, most body shops have these tools for fine tuning door adjustments, this should be cheap if not free.
