Auto body repair & detailing: fender, hood, alignment, audi a6, body experience

Question
I have a 2000 Audi A6, replaced both front fenders. having a hard time with the alignment. 2 different fenders, one from Audi And the other aftermarket. Anyway the metal is hung, drivers side towards the windshield is above the fender, pass. side below. also having trouble with the line alignment from grill back (I want same space both sides) The hood was not removed, thought I could use that as a templet for alignment. At this point I am looking for a tip on how to bring both fenders to be even with the hood. Should I make the adjustment with the hood? Also any quick tips or tool to make the lines perfect from grill back or just keep playing with the fenders. Trying not to move the hood setting with out some sort of direction. I'm a good wrench, very little body experience.

Answer
I have not worked on an Audi for quite some time so without seeing the car, it's kind of difficult to tell you what to do. You may have to oblong the mount holes. I believe these are built like Mercedes, so you should have a little up and down and back and forth adjustment. Loosen all your bolts, start at the door and hood corner and work forward. If your car was hit on the front corner, chances are, the front end was knocked over and with the hood being latched, took it with it. If that's the case then your hinges will be bent and you will not get good lines.
