Auto body repair & detailing: Trunk stuck closed - key wont turn in lock and interior truck release not working either, 10mm socket, trunk area

Question
I have a 1994 Chrysler Learn convertible - about 2 yrs ago I was rear ended and ever since it has been almost impossible to get key to turn in lock on truck lid. Now I am unable to get the interior lever release to pop it open either!! HELP --- I have no clue how to get in and need to be able to get to some things in trunk and would like to know if I needed to use my spare tire or jack I would be able to get to it. I don't care if I have to punch the lock out of trunk I just need in.

Answer
You can remove the back seat to gain access to the trunk area. Once you do that, it will take a long extension with a 10mm socket and ratchet to loosen the latch mechanism. If your car has trim covering these parts, it will be more of a problem. Punching a hole will not help. You may have to take it to a body shop to have opened.
It also sounds like something maybe jammed in the latch. I'm sorry I can't tell you more, good luck.
