Auto body repair & detailing: Repairing a fiberglass trunklid crack, gold color, hi john

Question
Someone with plow mount on the front of a Jeep rolled into the fiberglass trunk lid of my 99 Sebring JXi convertible, causing a two inch crack, from the bottom edge up, about an inch in from the the left tail lamp.  I have had previous body work done in which the price was right, but the gold color not perfectly matched.  I would like to repair the crack, rather than replace the entire trunk lid, but it does not have to be perfect.  How difficult is it to repair it myself?  The crack goes all the way through.  It could be easily touched up if it were smooth.

Answer
Hi John,

It depends on the actual damage. Fiberglass in itself is not all that hard to work with. You can check out this article for pointers. http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/ab_detailing/article/0,,diy_13684_2278593,00.html  If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
