Auto body repair & detailing: plastic bumper structural repair, cosmetic repair, repair material

Question
William- I am very handy and am going to repair the front bumper cover on a 2004 Olds SUV. In a low speed collision one of the attachment points (a 3"x2"x1" slotted plasic "box") broke free. the cover is not deformed but I must reattach this hanger. It appears to have been either heat and/or chemically fastened. What product do I use to reattach? Thanks for your service

Answer
Go to a professional parts store like Napa , Big A or anyone who sells professional automotive paint, and ask them for some bumper repair material. There are so many brands, I hate to suggest one just to have you looking all around for a specific brand. Fact is, they are all pretty good. SEM and 3M are the most common brands. JB weld will work if it's  a non cosmetic repair, but it takes a long time to set. Bumper repair material sets in about a third the time. One hint- more is better. Don't skimp on the stuff, and repairs can be further strengthened with mesh tape for drywall. Bill
