Auto body repair & detailing: 88 CAMARO- Door shuts but not all the way, inch gap, worth 1000

Question
I'm sure a picture would be worth 1000 words here, but since I don't have a picture I guess the words will have to do!

I close my door, and there is about a 1 inch gap like if you closed a car-door, it latches, but you have to give it that extra nudge to close it completely.  Except for in my case, it doesn't close all the way.  It latches, it locks, but for some reason I can't close the door all the way.  If I try to push it all the way in, it doesn't budge as if it thinks it's shut all the way.  BUT, if I lift the exterior/interior handle and push the door in, it goes flesh with the body (but as soon as I let go of the door, it goes back to that 1 inch gap but stayes latched).

And while I'm driving, sometimes when taking a right turn the door just un-latches and flies open.  It didn't do it as much before, but one time when it flew open all the way, I heard metal bending near the front hinges.  Now it's worse than before.

So I'm confused on if it's the hinges that connect the door to the body, or the latching mechinism.  I don't think it's the striker bolt, it doesn't look too worn, has a few dings in it but I figure that's normal.  I'm going to take it in sooner or later, but I just want to see if it's something I can fix myself before dropping all that parts & labor money.  Thanks for your help!

Answer
Adjusting doors can be very complicated sometimes. But your deal sounds like it may be the hinge pins and bushings and the latch If you can pick up on the back of the door and you can feel play in the door than it is in need of hinge pins and bushings. If the latch comes unlatched when you are driving than you need a latch assy.
