Auto body repair & detailing: Drivers door wont open, honda civic ex, honda civic ex sedan

Question
I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX sedan w/ power door locks. One morning I got in my car after opening the door not once but twice, drove approximately 17 miles on the freeway to get to work and when I got to work I could not open the door.  I got out the other side and I couldn't open it from outside either.  There is no resistance when I lift the latch on the outside but there is some on the inside. the barrel (lock/unlocked indicator) seems to have appropriate resistance (same as others) It also locks the other doors when pushed down. The electric lock switch works properly.

Here is the kicker, I went to a local body shop and they took the B-pillar panels off but couldn't get the door open. Said that I probably would need to take the front fender off to remove the hinges, yet made no effort to do it, (because it would take several hours apparently).

Answer
You have lock problem, somehow, the lock got jammed in the latch area or the handle area. The body shop you took it to apparently did not want to deal with it. Take it to another shop, one that has a clue.
If you can get the inside trim loose, you may be able to reach down inside to the latch and un lock it. Lube it up real good when you are done. Something is probably corroded too.
