Auto body repair & detailing: Passenger Side Front Fender, bloody knuckles, inner fender

Question
I recently accidentally backed into my father-in-law's Dodge Neon with my Ford Expedition. What is the best DIY way to replace the passenger side front fender on a 4-door 2001 Dodge Neon? Only the fender was damaged. I see that I can buy the fender for about $175 online at carpartswhole[dot]com. Is a CAPA Certified Part adequate or is there a better place to get reliable parts online? After having it painted to match, does the fender just bolt on or do I have to have it spot-welded? I am pretty handy with tools but have never done autobody work - Am I in over my head? What are your suggestions?

Answer
Brady-

A CAPA fender is a suitable replacement. Fender replacement may require front bumper cover removal, removal of the headlamp assy and or marker lamp, and removal of the inner fender (plastic) splash shield, mud guard etc.The fender is just bolted on but may require searching for a few of the fasteners such as in the door jam or under/around the front lamps or radiator support. It is not too difficult for someone with mechanical aptitude but you may end up with bloody knuckles, and use a few swear words in the process- Good Luck- Mark
