Auto body repair & detailing: body rust, nissan pathfinder, body rust

Question
I own a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder which I bought in Colorado. Since then I moved to upstate New York where the common practice is to use salt on the roads during winter months. After I put my Pathfinder in storage while being deployed to Iraq, I noticed surface rust appearing, especially at the back cargo area where the latch is and mostly at the top of the windshield around the area where the rubber seal strip is.  If the rust is spreading where the windshield track is, is there a remedy for this? Also, when it rains heavily, rain accumulates in the front area of my pathfinder and also collects on the headliner. I now reside in Hawaii and wonder if the combination of changing climates from New York to Hawaii is a factor.  Any help on rust remedies would be greatly appreciated or any ideas on body repair. I am hoping I dont have to consider my Pathfinder a loss and try to sell it while there is still some value in it. Thanks

Answer
Eddie the reason for the rain in the headliner is the rust around the window must have rusted all the way through letting the water come in the only way to fix it is to have all the rust cut out a grinded away or it will spread and fast you can put some silicon around the windows to keep the water out but it is still going to keep rusting
