Auto body repair & detailing: 2006 Honda Civic grill replacement, flat screwdriver, splash shields

Question
My son owns a Honda civic si, while at school the front and rear "si" badge was stolen. They damaged the front grill prying it off. I have a $500 deductible and was able to get the parts from Honda direct. My question is do I need to remove the entire bumper to replace the grill? Or can you tell me the proper procedure?

Answer
Changing the grille is a lot easier with the bumper off.Open the hood and you will see the grille cover, there are some clips on the top.Be gentle with the outer clips ,they are fragile.Once this panel is removed ,there is 2 metric allen screws coming in from the front remove these.Move to the fenders and remove the screw that holds the bumper to the fender. From under the car there is several clips and a few bolts from the bottom holding the bumper to the splash shields. When all the hardware is removed pull the bumper away from the body and pull it forward to remove it from the car.A flat screwdriver in the notch of the clips and a gentle twist will pop the clip out,for the uncooperative clips ,if any,cut them with sidecutters and replace with new clips. The whole job should take less than an hour.
