Auto body repair & detailing: Pulling a dent, mike gallagher, paint world

Question
I have a just purchased a 97 saab 900.  The previous owner backed into something and made a dent just below where the 3rd brake light is.  They also broke the brake light.  I can install a new brake light no problem, but I would like to fix the dent a bit on my own.  I can get to the dent easily through the hole where the brake light goes (the dent is half moon shaped cut off on top by the brake light hole)  Should I pull the dent, or get in from behind and hammer out?  I dont need this to look at all perfect I just want there not to be a gap between the brake light and the sheet metal.  What would you suggest doing.

Thanks

Answer
Dear Tom:

The best way to fix your dent is to go behind it with a hammer.  Be careful however, as you do not want a dent in the opposite direction.  You only want to try to lessen the dent.  After that fill the dent with bondo and sand it smooth, prime the area, paint it, then clear it.  This will give you a brand new look and you won't even be able to tell the dent was there at all.  If your not looking for it to be perfect, then skip the bondo step and just sand, prime, paint, and clear.  If you would like to talk to one of us or you need the products I've listed above give us a call at 1-800-548-4321.
