Auto Glass: Toyota Highlander Rear Window off track, toyota highlander, arm swing

Question
QUESTION: Hey you answered my question last year re my highlander window regulator jumping off the bottom of the window.

I was able to attach it together by loosening the window motor, but was unsuccessful sliding the metal bar at the bottom of the window to its correct place.  It was really really stuck on there and I couldnt see any direct signs of slippage.

Any ideas for loosening up the metal guide at the bottom of the window?  Thanks.

ANSWER: Hi John,

You might try using a small amount of lubricant like WD40 at the front / back of channel before you try to slide if forward / backward.

Sorry I don't have any surefire solution.

One thing I can tell you for sure: removing the glass so that you can more easily slide the channel back in place is not a simple job.  I believe that would be best left to someone with significant glass replacement experience.

QUESTION: oh this is exciting- looks like the channel with has dropped off the bottom of the window so all I have to do is put it back on the right spot.  Where is that again exactly?

Answer
Hello John,

Raise the glass all the way up and secure it with tape or a wedge.  Operate the regulator and watch the arm swing up and down.  Stop the arm at the point at which the end of the arm is at the furthest point toward the back of the door.  Now slide the glass down so the bottom of the glass is even with the end of the regulator arm.  Mark the position of the arm on the glass and install the channel so that the back end of the channel is about an inch further toward the back of the door than the end of the regulator arm.

Let me know if I can help in some other way.
