Auto Glass: Faulty window motor 2003 Kia Sorento?, kia sorento, best guess

Question
My left rear window is stuck in the down position on my 2003 Kia Sorento. I made sure the window lock was turned off from the Driver's controls. I tried to bring the window up from the Driver"s controls and the back left window control, both to no avail. Here is a possible hint to the problem, there is a clicking noise coming from inside the faulty door. If I had to guess it sounds like the noise is coming from the motor for that window. I appreciate your rapid response as it is supposed to rain here tomorrow.
Thanks
Brian

Answer
Hello Brian,

The problem could be a bad master switch, a bad single switch, a broken wire, or a bad window motor.  I have not seen very many problems with this vintage of Kia Sorrento, so I can't even give you a best guess at this time.

If the problem is the motor, you may be able to get the window to go up as follows:

1.  Start the engine with the car in 'Park".

2.  Be sure the lock out button on the master switch is unlocked.

3.  Sit in the left rear seat and open the door.

4.  With your right hand HOLD the switch button in the up position.

5.  With your left hand, shut the door firmly.

This procedure will often jar a stuck motor and it will work long enough to raise the window.  This doesn't always work when the motor is the problem, but it's work a try.

Feel free to send a follow up question if there is anything else you have a question about.
