Auto Glass: 1999 Suburban drivers power window, GM MOTOR/ SWITCH

Question
I have replaced the power window switch in the door and the drivers window worked again for about 2 weeks. Now the same problem is back. I can hear the switch clicking like it is making electrical contact, but the window will not go up or down. before I go thorough the chore of replacing the motor do you have any other suggestions?

Answer
Hi David,
It sounds like a Summertime Motor,

Summer time it works and Summer times it won't. LOL Sorry!!  :)

Pull off the panel and jump the motor to eliminate the switch.
I like the old unwanted phone charger in the lighter method to jump these.  Strip the end and put an extension wire if needed. Find the motor plug,   Test the motor if it works up and down with no bad noise replace the switch again with NEW

If the switch was a new and not a used replacement, was it from a dealer or aftermarket?

This Cable run regulator is Famous for locking up when in the full upright position.    This happens when the plastic on the guides chips off and allows the cable to have just enough play to allow the guilds to lock on the top edge of the up and down tracks.

You will find white plastic inside the door when this happens.

Depending on your State and City the whole motor and Regulator unit can be replaced New for as little as 170-190 by a local Glass shop.

They have after market Motor/Regulator units online for as little as 65.00 if you want to install this yourself.

                                Hope This Helps! Derek =D
