QuestionI have an 89 Pontiac grand am Le 2.5 137000 original miles.
As you can see the mileage is getting up there.
(distributorless ignition)
Runs good. I've had it long enough to tell that it's time for new spark plugs, gas mileage is better with new plugs.
Though in the past I've installed the original ac factory plugs, would a set of pulstar plugs be better? rapid fire? Platinum? Iridium?(all if found at a decent price)and/or those "fowl-free" plugs and or adapters?
I'm also concern if going with a different spark plug, would it damage or eventually damage the module/coil pack etc?

Answer All of those funny-named spark plugs are gimmicks. There is no reason to use anything other than the OE plug. You can switch brands without worry. Champion, AC, Autolite, Bosch, NGK, or Nippondenso are all good brands. Do not try to cross-reference the OE plug number, use the plug that they recommend in their catalog. Just don't use Splitfire or any other self-appointed "super" plugs. Are you using injector cleaner at least once a year? This will help the spark plugs run cleaner and longer.
