Question
I am planning on switching my 4.3L V6 out with 5.7L V8, i was wondering if you could help me with any information on the ecm and other parts that i may have to change out? I was also wondering if the transmission i have will work with the V8?

Answer
Best way to do this is to find a V8 truck from 93 or earlier and swap out everything, including ECM.  These pre-OBDII ECMs are all basically the same, but getting everything squared away with an incorrect one is time-consuming and can require different wiring.  Painless Wiring and a few other vendors offer a universal harness with ECM that can be used to install fuel-injected V8s in just about anything, but it is around a grand with all of the accessories.  If you buy a wrecked truck and use the all of the parts already there it will be cheaper, and you can sell what's left over when you're done.  Oh, yes the transmission will work--Chevy V8 and V6 bell housings are the same.
