Auto Parts: Drive shaft, drive shaft, salvage yard

Question
I have a 99 2dr 4x4 blazer, the people whom i bought the vehicle from took out part of the drive shaft to get better gas mileage ( or so they ssay) i want to put it back in so my 4 wheel drive will work. is this an easy task to do my self or should i get it professionally done???

Answer
I have heard of morons doing this, it's so stupid.  Did they save the the old shaft and give it to you with the truck?  If they didn't, then you will have to buy one at a salvage yard.  Get the whole shaft, yoke and all, and putting it back in is really a very easy job.  I knew a guy who drove his blazer for a long time with just the front drive shaft connected.  His reason was a little more simple: he was lazy and cheap.  Your folks probably broke something and, finding that they could still drive the car, decided not to spend the extra money on the repair.  I hope you paid a reduced price.
