how do i change the starter out on 99 intrigue 3.8 engine and what size tools do i need?

    There are two bolts holding the starter on.  I can't remember whether they are 12mm or 13mm.  What you will need, though, is a short extension and a U-joint adapter, as one of these bolts is very hard to reach.  You will have to come up from underneath to get at it.  You will also probably have to curse very effectively.  This is actually a very simple job, just time-consuming because of the starter's location.  Important: make sure you disconnect the negative cable from the battery before you start!  You won't be able to disconnect the battery lead from the starter until after you have lowered it down.  You do not want it to touch any part of the car while the battery is still connected, it could damage the electronics.  Disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery will take care of this danger.
